Built for Easy Speed. The FreeFlex FW38 brings the unique performance characteristics of the original FF38 driver shaft to the fairway wood. Designed for golfers who generate moderate clubhead speed with a smooth, flowing transition, FW38 is engineered to make fairway woods easier to load, faster to swing, and more efficient through impact. Key Features Recommended for driver swing speeds of 80–90 mph with a smooth tempo and transition Total design weight: 38g Flex frequency: 188 CPM Torque: 4.6° 44" uncut raw length 0.335" tapered tip to fit standard fairway wood adapters and clubheads Available in Watercolor, Hot Pink, Mint Green, Pastel Watercolor Designed for 3-, 5-, 7- and 9-wood applications, depending on individual fitting requirements Easy Loading. High Launch. Low Spin. The FW38 is designed around the same FreeFlex Technology (FFT) that defines our driver shafts. By independently engineering weight, flex and torsional strength, FreeFlex allows a shaft to remain exceptionally easy to load without sacrificing the stability needed through impact. For the fairway wood, this combination is particularly useful. A lighter, more responsive shaft can help golfers create more clubhead speed without forcing the swing, while the shaft's torsional characteristics help maintain face stability through impact. The result is a fairway wood shaft designed to produce easy speed, high launch and efficient low-spin flight without requiring a more aggressive swing. The FreeFlex AdvantageConventional shaft design often requires a compromise between a soft, easy-loading shaft and a firmer, more stable shaft. FreeFlex takes a different approach. The FW38 uses our proprietary FFT technology and Oblique Order Carbon Weave to control the shaft's dynamic behavior throughout the swing. The result is the characteristic FreeFlex combination of a soft, responsive feel with stability that is difficult to achieve from conventional shaft construction. The FW38 is particularly well suited to swinger-type golfers who allow the club to load naturally rather than aggressively applying force from the top. Who Is It Designed For?The FW38 is ideal for golfers who: Have a smooth tempo and transition Prefer a light, effortless feel Want to increase fairway-wood clubhead speed Struggle to generate consistent speed with heavier or stiffer shafts Want higher launch without excessive spin Prefer the smooth loading characteristics of the original FF38 While the recommended driver swing speed is approximately 80–90 mph, FreeFlex shafts are not conventional flex-designated shafts. Individual swing dynamics, tempo and release pattern should always be considered when selecting a shaft. Fitting RecommendationLike every FreeFlex shaft, the FW38 performs best when professionally fitted.Playing length, swing weight, head design and tipping can significantly influence the final performance of a fairway wood. A qualified club fitter can optimize the FW38 for your individual swing and the specific fairway wood application. For additional fitting guidance, please refer to our FAQ section. Consistently 3-4 mph faster clubhead speed with Freeflex products vs any other shaft I have tried, including Autoflex. The "whippiness" can be off putting at first, but when you realize the clubhead WILL square up, and you get more confidence with it, the results are astounding. This Paradym / FF combo is hands down the best driver setup I've owned, and I typically run through 2-3 new drivers a year looking for the Holy Grail. For me, this is it. As to the fairway shaft, I run that in a Taylor Made Stealth 2, and it is basically a "Do-it-all" club. Want driver distance off the tee? Check.Want to hit high launching, soft dripping shots from the fairway? Check. Turn it over and let it run into the wind? Check. Truly fantastic, and the FF shaft is the engine powering the setup. Couldn't be happier!
