SJ Golf’s patented Carbon Bending Technology allow us to produce shafts whose tech specs read like a soft flexible shaft, BUT feels absolutely stiff and firm in actuality, comparable to the popular shafts on tour. Part of the secret is our proprietary carbon wrap technology that increases the level of firmness of the shaft WITHOUT affecting the original CPM flex and torque. HELICAL CARBON Carbon bending is a new step in the shaft manufacturing process, where a thin strip of carbon is helically wrapped tightly around the shaft to increase stiffness. This new sheath of armor will firm up the feel of the shaft but will not affect the CPM or torque. Moreover, our research showed that the width of the band and the spacing between the helical spirals all play a part in changing the characteristics of the shaft in distinctive ways. Furthermore, the ability to CBT technology to create unique shafts with specific performance characteristics is near limitless. For example, the number of new shaft possibilities can reach tens or even hundreds of thousands, depending on various factors such as the width and thickness of the band, the spacing and orientation of the helical spiral, the weave pattern of the band fabric, and each of the different materials that all of these factors can be applied to. Thus, by adjusting these factors in countless combinations, shafts with unique performance characteristics can be tailored to a specific golfer’s swing. Prior to testing the MetaFlex shafts, we did not show them the actual specs on paper beforehand. All of the testers had been using had been using popular aftermarket shafts, and ranged from 105~120mph swing speeds. They noted that although it felt somewhat softer in waggle than their own shafts, MetaFlex actually felt just as stiff if not more during the actual swing. The testers also saw higher launch, carry distance, and lower spin than their gamers. After the tests, when they were told that the MetaFlex spec is actually SOFTER than our FF45 shaft (200cpm, 4.0 torque), they were shocked. They couldn’t believe that MetaFlex 5H at 5.5 torque and 190 cpm could feel so solid and easy to handle. Another fascinating aspect of CBT is its ability to increase forgiveness on even the fastest of swing speeds. Due to our new bending technique, the "bend point" now becomes a wider "bend section" to provide for a more repeatable loading/unloading of the shaft at impact. Soon, we will be able to identify the exact sections where a golfer needs to bend the shaft most effectively and reinforce that particular section for a TRUE CUSTOMIZATION of the golf shaft.
