Just wanted to send a note of thanks, as I put the MetaFlex in play for the first NJPGA event of the season and managed to defend my title at the New Jersey PGA Match Play Championship. Being completely honest, it was the best I've ever driven the golf ball for consecutive rounds. I've always been a relatively straight driver, and was willing to give up a little bit of that accuracy if it meant an increase in speed. The amazing thing about this shaft is that, even with the increase in ball speed, I drove it as accurate as I ever have. Under pressure situations, it performed like nothing I've ever had before. On a really difficult course with firm greens, being in the fairway was incredibly important. I think over the course of 6 matches, I missed a total of 4 fairways, and was consistently 10-20 yards past every opponent I played. Again, can't thank you enough - it was a total game changer and was without a doubt the key to winning this week. * * * * * * * Jean-Pierre M. Age, handicap: 53 years old, 5.8 hcp Swing speed: 104 mph Swing style: Hitter type with aggressive downswing transition Driver set up: Titleist 8° with MetaFlex 5H So I recently bought the Metaflex 5H shaft and have been testing it on my simulator over the past few months. The numbers on the simulator look really good. It is about 2 to 3 miles an hour faster ball speed with this shaft compared to my Ventus Red, which is the best shaft I have played to date. It is also typically about 8 to 10 yards longer as well. The 1 downside is that it launches 1 to 2 degrees higher, so I had to turn my Titleist driver down to 8 degrees to get the proper launch window. My biggest concern with all of these lightweight whippy shafts has always been dispersion. I owned an Autoflex for a while and while the well-struck shots were 10 yards past my normal driver, the dispersion was worse. I could not swing aggressively with the Autoflex or the results were not good. The same happened with the Freeflex shaft which is another similar type of shaft. I finally got the Metaflex out for a full round and decent weather yesterday. This shaft is similar in nature to the Autoflex or Freeflex shafts. Freeflex is also made by SJ Golf Lab, FYI. Lightweight, and whippy when waggling it. You can look at the article on this site, on the shaft to get a sense of what the technology is. https://www.golfwrx.com/727489/beyond-limits-carbon-bending-and-the-future-of-shaft-manufacturing/ I hit 12 out of 14 Fairway's yesterday which is remarkable for me. I usually hit 50 to 60% of the Fairway's in a normal round. Distance was as good or better than my Ventus Red. I found that this shaft help me develop a good tempo and rhythm with my swing which also helps with my iron shots during the round. I would agree with the article on the Metaflex shaft, while it does feel like a noodle when waggling it, I do not notice this in the downswing. I was really surprised honestly to see such incredible results. While I know that 1 round is no guarantee for future success, this is certainly a great starting point. All my golfing buddies know that I like to try different shafts and change them out all the time. They all remarked that it was the best driving round they have ever seen me have and that I would be crazy to ever take the shaft out of the bag. * * * * * * * Graham B. Age, handicap: 54 years old, 7 hcp Swing speed: 105 mph Height & weight: 5'9" 205lbs Swing style: Hitter type with aggressive downswing transition Driver set up: Ping G430 LST 9° with Ventus TR Blue vs Paradym Triple Diamond 9° with Freeflex FF45 Feedback & Data: The Freeflex driver (and also my 3 wood) shafts pass both the eye test, and the data test (GC Quad). Consistently 3-4 mph faster clubhead speed with Freeflex products vs any other shaft I have tried, including Autoflex. The "whippiness" can be off putting at first, but when you realize the clubhead WILL square up, and you get more confidence with it, the results are astounding. This Paradym / FF combo is hands down the best driver setup I've owned, and I typically run through 2-3 new drivers a year looking for the Holy Grail. For me, this is it. As to the fairway shaft, I run that in a Taylor Made Stealth 2, and it is basically a "Do-it-all" club. Want driver distance off the tee? Check. Want to hit high launching, soft dripping shots from the fairway? Check. Turn it over and let it run into the wind? Check. Truly fantastic, and the FF shaft is the engine powering the setup. Couldn't be happier! * * * * * * * Scott D. I am a master fitter and master builder here in California's " golfs capitol " Palm Springs region. I have been in the golf industry for 27 years beginning in the OEM industry working with the foundries in China for Callaway, Titleist, Porsche and USGA developing golf clubs. I work with some of the best players in the valley from PGA, LPGA and Champions Tour all the way down to juniors winning Drive, Chip and Putt. We have an abundance of wealthy golfers out here and they all have AutoFlex. I was recently introduced to one of your shafts so we put it through the test and it outperformed the Autoflex on both launch monitors and on course. The test was done by a huge Autoflex user, and he liked the FreeFlex better. I then tested it with one of my lady players who just qualified for the Lady Senior open who also played professionally in Columbia. She picked up 25 to 30 yards. She of course demanded me to get her and everyone that saw her hit wants shafts immediately. You have a great product and I would love to get behind it. * * * * * * * Ronnie R. This is my second driver with FF45. Feedback & Data: I was previously using Autoflex 505x. The FF45 gives me more effortless distance than Autoflex. I now have the FW45 in my Paradym 3 wood. Very interested to try the new iron shafts. * * * * * * * Lily W. Age & Handicap: 10, 1.3 index Avg driver speed : 78 mph Shaft: FF30 Blossom Dear Team FreeFlex, we have some exciting news. We have the two FreeFlex shafts installed into two ping g430 driver heads. Lily really loves the colors and designs of both shafts. With the Blossom FF30 we saw about a 7 mile increase in swing speed and gained about 12 more yards of carry. One thing Lily noticed with both shafts is she is getting more roll out on her drives too. With the FF38 we had similar results but Lily said she’s more comfortable with the FF30 right now. Her coach also confirmed that the FF30 is excellent (he was surprised too) and maybe by the end of the year change to the FF38. We are grateful to FreeFlex, SJ golf lab, Dr. Choi, and you for supporting Lily in her golf journey. * * * * * * * * Hello [FreeFlex], Recently I had my best fitting yet with the FF45 Special. I was working with a low single digit handicap that plays a lot of competitive amatuer golf in Oregon and Washington. Here are the best three shots I recorded with his gamer: (Left column) I installed the FF45 Special that I built to play at 47 inches, took a little weight out of his driver head to dial back the swingweight, and reduced his loft by 2 degrees (based on my personal experience with the shaft). He expressed some shock at the soft feel of the shaft, but quickly started hitting the ball noticeably farther with a nice little draw. Here are the best three I recorded with the FF shaft: (Right column) He asked if he could play a round of golf with it and texted the following after playing: "I hit that thing like 20 yards further. Crazy." Fun to see such a good result! I'm now so happy with my FreeFlex Driver shaft. Many of my Buddies who were sceptical when I first showed them the Club (they all did the waggle test, smirked, and wished me 'good luck with that one'), have watched me increase my driving distance and tighten the dispersion to the point where they now want to put Freeflex in their own bags. Of course I've allowed them to hit my Driver, to a man they have been surprised that with just a few swings they were seeing and feeling the difference. Also I'd love to know where you are with the development of the Shafts for Fairway Woods and Irons. The biggest struggle I'm having is with my 3 & 5 woods. The standard shafts just feel so dead in comparison to your Product and I'm gradually losing all confidence in them. I would love to be one of the first to put more FreeFlex in my Bag. * * * * * * * Scott P. Age: 59 Handicap: +12 Swing speed: 94mph Shaft: FF45 Watercolor 7 rounds in and I am loving this shaft! I have seen about a consistent 10-yard increase in distance with a few drives per round going more than that, but the best part is it feels like effortless distance. I have been so impressed with the shaft in my drive I may try them in my fairway clubs. * * * * * Josh J. I had two grips with same gram weight and sacrificed one by razor cutting it down the side. This way I did not have to blow grips on and off to measure swing weight. Butt trimmed four half inch increments leaving the shaft at forty four inches, which came to D1 at 46 inches overall (used a Golf Pride 4plus4 grip 55 grams). I did run the spine down the back of the club, not really knowing front or back. Game Day. My warm up practice swings made a different sound- a higher pitch sound. Could not sense any transition or feel difference from a Graphite Design XC regular flex. In practice swings. If anything the club felt heavier and the flex point closer to the grip. I gained some distance on drives for the first three holes - five to eight yards. Hole four, hit over a lake that I have been playing down the side of. 18 yard improvement. Going on, I hit a number of good drives, some that should have hooked badly but didn't. The shaft seems to square the face even with bad transition and with good swings the smash factor has to be the highest I have ever experienced. Toe hits just go straight and do not start right and hook into the fairway. I can safely say that I have gained 10 yards and with good swings 15 yards. I have not teed the ball up very much, but the launch angle is good and better than the above XC shaft. I contacted you for distance and got that, but I appreciate the improvement in dispersion just as much. I will trade a duck hook for a little pull with good smash factor any day. * * * * * William B. The results reinforce the distance gains of 25+ yards, I love the ball flight too which seems to be much more penetrative than what I was experiencing with my 'pre FreeFlex' set up! I do have one slight negative that I would like your thoughts on. If I hit 30 balls with your shaft and switch to a mid iron the shaft feels like a solid steel bar, completely devoid of life! Are you looking at manufacturing FreeFlex shafts to go through the bag? Maybe the answer is to alternate clubs/shafts more frequently during practice but I can say it's hard to get that Driver out of my hands, I love it!From the numbers in the report are there any changes to my set up that you would suggest? A Titleist Pro and Club fitter suggested adding a wee bit loft as my landing numbers are a bit low but I'm wary of changing anything without running it past you Guys!
